According to the US Air Force, the JDAM is a guidance kit that converts unguided bombs into precision munitions.
Amnesty International reported that its experts and a remote sensing analyst examined satellite images and photos showing ordnance fragments and damage from the airstrikes. The report claims that 19 children, 14 women, and 10 men were killed. The organisation found no evidence of military targets at the sites. Brigadier General Patrick Ryder said they will continue to consult with Israeli partners on civilian safety. Israel, the largest recipient of US foreign aid since World War II, receives about $3 billion annually. The Biden administration has requested an additional $10.6 billion in aid following the Hamas attack on October 7.
The first attack mentioned by Amnesty International took place around 8:30 p.m. on October 10, targeting the al-Najjar family home and killing 21 family members along with three neighbours. The report estimates that the bomb used weighed approximately 2,000 pounds based on the damage and shows a manufacturing date of 2017. The second attack occurred around midday on October 22, hitting three houses belonging to brothers in the Abu Mu’eileq family. This strike resulted in the deaths of 18 family members, including 12 children and six women, as well as one neighbour. The human rights organisation is calling on the US and other governments to halt arms transfers to Israel to prevent potential violations of international law.
