Investigation into Biden’s Classified Documents Nears Conclusion
Special Counsel Robert Hur has conducted a two-day interview with President Joe Biden, indicating that the investigation into classified documents is approaching its conclusion after more than 10 months of inquiry and interviews with dozens of witnesses.
Sources report that the investigative team aims to conclude by the end of this year. While it remains uncertain whether charges will be filed, the investigators’ line of questioning suggests a low probability of indictment.
The investigation commenced in January following the discovery of classified documents at Biden’s former office in Washington, D.C., and his residence in Wilmington, Delaware.
The investigative team has interviewed a broad spectrum of witnesses, ranging from senior advisors to former low-level assistants, including individuals who worked in the Senate during Biden’s tenure as a senator. This is due to some classified documents dating back to that period.
Sources further indicate that the investigative team has operated with precision and professionalism, attempting to reconstruct the chain of custody for the documents and examine the circumstances that led to these classified materials being located at Biden’s office and residence.
The White House has declined to provide details regarding the President’s interview, including matters of executive privilege. However, they assert that Biden has fully cooperated with the investigation, even during the recent Hamas attack on Israel.
This investigation has proceeded with relative discretion compared to the case of former President Trump, who was indicted in June. Nevertheless, the protracted duration of the investigation has generated dissatisfaction among Biden’s senior officials, who had anticipated a swifter conclusion given the relatively small number of classified documents involved.
