พรรคแรงงานภายใต้การนำของนายเคียร์ สตาร์เมอร์ ได้รับชัยชนะอย่างท่วมท้นในการเลือกตั้งทั่วไปของสหราชอาณาจักรครั้งล่าสุด ทำให้รัฐบาลภายใต้การนำของพรรคอนุรักษ์นิยมที่ยาวนานถึง 14 ปีต้องสิ้นสุดลง
ผลการนับคะแนนอย่างเป็นทางการระบุว่า พรรคแรงงานได้รับ 410 ที่นั่งในสภาผู้แทนราษฎร ในขณะที่พรรคอนุรักษ์นิยมได้รับเพียง 119 ที่นั่ง และพรรคเสรีประชาธิปไตยได้รับเพียง 71 ที่นั่ง นับเป็นการพลิกผันครั้งใหญ่จากการเลือกตั้งในปี 2562 ที่พรรคแรงงานประสบกับความพ่ายแพ้อย่างหนักในการเลือกตั้งครั้งนั้น
นายสตาร์เมอร์ หัวหน้าพรรคแรงงาน มีกำหนดจะเข้ารับตำแหน่งนายกรัฐมนตรีในวันศุกร์นี้ โดยได้กล่าวสุนทรพจน์แสดงความมุ่งมั่นที่จะฟื้นฟูประเทศ และยึดถือผลประโยชน์ของชาติเป็นสำคัญ ด้านนายริชิ ซูนัค นายกรัฐมนตรีคนก่อนได้ยอมรับความพ่ายแพ้ครั้งนี้ และแสดงความยินดีกับผู้ชนะการเลือกตั้งครั้งนี้ส่งผลให้บุคคลสำคัญหลายคนในพรรคอนุรักษ์นิยมต้องพ่ายแพ้ รวมถึงนางลิซ ทรัสส์ อดีตนายกรัฐมนตรี และนายเจคอบ รีส-มอกก์ อดีตรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงธุรกิจ
นอกจากนี้ พรรคปฏิรูปแห่งสหราชอาณาจักร ซึ่งเป็นพรรคฝ่ายขวา ได้รับเลือกตั้งเข้าสู่สภาผู้แทนราษฎรเป็นครั้งแรก โดยได้รับเพียงแค่ 4 ที่นั่ง ด้านนายไนเจล ฟาราจ หัวหน้าพรรค ได้รับเลือกตั้งเป็นสมาชิกสภาผู้แทนราษฎรใน ความพยายามครั้งที่ 8 คาดว่าการเปลี่ยนผ่านอำนาจจะเกิดขึ้นอย่างรวดเร็ว โดยนายสตาร์เมอร์จะเข้าพบกษัตริย์ เพื่อรับเชิญให้จัดตั้งรัฐบาลใหม่ และจะเริ่มแต่งตั้งคณะรัฐมนตรีในเร็วๆ นี้ ทั้งนี้ ประชาชนชาวอังกฤษต่างจับตามองการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางการเมืองครั้งสำคัญนี้ และหวังว่ารัฐบาลใหม่จะนำพาประเทศไปสู่ความเจริญก้าวหน้าต่อไป

British Politics Upended: Labour Party Wins Landslide Victory in 2024 UK General Election
The Labour Party, under the leadership of Sir Keir Starmer, has secured a resounding victory in the latest United Kingdom general election, bringing an end to the Conservative Party’s 14-year tenure in government.
Official results indicate that Labour has won 410 seats in the House of Commons, while the Conservative Party managed to secure only 119 seats, and the Liberal Democrats obtained 71 seats. This marks a dramatic reversal from the 2019 election, in which Labour suffered a crushing defeat.
