ยูนิเซฟห่วงเด็กท่ามกลางวิกฤตชายแดน เรียกร้องยุติความรุนแรงแดนไทย–กัมพูชา ชี้เด็กคือผู้ได้รับผลกระทบมาก โรงเรียนต้องเป็นที่ปลอดภัย

องค์การยูนิเซฟแสดงความห่วงใยอย่างยิ่งต่อสถานการณ์ความตึงเครียดและเหตุปะทะที่ทวีความรุนแรงขึ้นบริเวณชายแดนไทย–กัมพูชา ซึ่งส่งผลกระทบโดยตรงต่อความปลอดภัยของพลเรือน โดยเฉพาะเด็ก มีรายงานผู้ได้รับบาดเจ็บและเสียชีวิต รวมถึงเด็กจำนวนหนึ่ง และทำให้โรงเรียนหลายร้อยแห่งในพื้นที่ต้องหยุดการเรียนการสอนชั่วคราว

ในแถลงการณ์ นางจูน คุนูกิ ผู้อำนวยการยูนิเซฟประจำภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกและแปซิฟิก เรียกร้องให้ทุกฝ่ายที่เกี่ยวข้องใช้ความอดทนอดกลั้นอย่างสูงสุด และเร่งดำเนินการเพื่อคุ้มครองเด็กจากอันตรายทั้งทางตรงและทางอ้อม พร้อมย้ำให้ความสำคัญกับการรักษาการเข้าถึงบริการพื้นฐานที่จำเป็นต่อชีวิตเด็ก เช่น การศึกษา สุขภาพ และความปลอดภัย

ยูนิเซฟระบุว่า ภายใต้กฎหมายระหว่างประเทศและพันธกรณีตามอนุสัญญาว่าด้วยสิทธิเด็ก ทุกฝ่ายมีหน้าที่ในการปกป้องชีวิตและสิทธิขั้นพื้นฐานของเด็กในทุกสถานการณ์ โดยเฉพาะในพื้นที่ขัดแย้ง ซึ่งเด็กถือเป็นกลุ่มที่เปราะบางที่สุด

“ความปลอดภัยและสวัสดิภาพของเด็กต้องมาก่อน และโรงเรียนต้องเป็นพื้นที่ปลอดภัยสำหรับการเรียนรู้ ไม่ควรเป็นเป้าหมายหรือได้รับผลกระทบจากความรุนแรงใดๆ” แถลงการณ์ของยูนิเซฟระบุ พร้อมเน้นย้ำว่าการยุติความรุนแรงอย่างเร่งด่วนคือสิ่งจำเป็น เพื่อหลีกเลี่ยงผลกระทบในระยะยาวต่อเด็กและชุมชน

ยูนิเซฟยังคงติดตามสถานการณ์อย่างใกล้ชิด และยืนหยัดพร้อมให้ความช่วยเหลือด้านมนุษยธรรม โดยเน้นย้ำว่าทุกชีวิตของเด็กมีคุณค่า และไม่ควรถูกทิ้งไว้เบื้องหลังในทุกบริบทของความขัดแย้ง

UNICEF has expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions and clashes along the Thai–Cambodian border, which have directly impacted the safety of civilians—particularly children. Reports indicate that there have been injuries and fatalities, including among children, and that hundreds of schools in the affected areas have been forced to close temporarily.

In a statement, Ms. Jun Kukuki, UNICEF Regional Director for East Asia and the Pacific, urged all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and take immediate action to protect children from both direct and indirect harm. She emphasized the importance of maintaining access to essential services for children, such as education, healthcare, and safety.

UNICEF stated that under international law and the obligations of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, all parties are responsible for safeguarding the lives and fundamental rights of children in every circumstance—especially in conflict zones, where children are among the most vulnerable.

“Children’s safety and well-being must come first, and schools must remain safe spaces for learning. They should never be targeted or affected by violence,” the statement said, stressing the urgent need to end the violence to prevent long-term consequences for children and their communities.

UNICEF continues to monitor the situation closely and stands ready to provide humanitarian assistance. The agency reiterated that every child’s life is valuable and no child should be left behind in any context of conflict.
