เมื่อวันที่ 24 กรกฎาคม 2567 ศูนย์บัญชาการป้องกันทางอากาศแห่งอเมริกาเหนือ (NORAD) ได้รายงานเหตุการณ์สำคัญ เมื่อต้องสกัดกั้นเครื่องบินทิ้งระเบิดของรัสเซียและจีนที่บินปฏิบัติการร่วมกันใกล้รัฐอะแลสกาเป็นครั้งแรก
โดยเครื่องบินทั้งสี่ลำ ประกอบไปด้วยเครื่องบินทิ้งระเบิด TU-95 Bear ของรัสเซีย 2 ลำ และเครื่องบินทิ้งระเบิด H-6 ของจีนอีก 2 ลำ บินอยู่ในน่านฟ้าสากลภายในเขตแสดงตนเพื่อการป้องกันภัยทางอากาศ (ADIZ) ของอะแลสกา แม้จะไม่ได้รุกล้ำเข้ามาในน่านฟ้าของสหรัฐฯ หรือแคนาดา ไม่ถือเป็นภัยคุกคาม แต่ NORAD ก็ได้ส่งเครื่องบินขับไล่ F-16 และ F-35 ของสหรัฐฯ รวมถึง CF-18 ของแคนาดาขึ้นสกัดกั้นตามขั้นตอนปกติ

ทางด้านนายพลเกรกอรี กิยอต ผู้บัญชาการกองบัญชาการเหนือของสหรัฐฯ เคยคาดการณ์ไว้เมื่อเดือนมีนาคมว่า จีนอาจส่งเครื่องบินเข้ามาในบริเวณนี้ภายในปีนี้ ซึ่งสร้างความกังวลให้กับฝ่ายความมั่นคงของสหรัฐฯ อย่างมาก

US Intercepts Russian and Chinese Bombers in First Joint Flight Near Alaska
On July 24, 2024, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) reported a significant incident when it intercepted Russian and Chinese bombers conducting their first joint operation near the state of Alaska.
The four aircraft, comprising two Russian TU-95 Bear bombers and two Chinese H-6 bombers, were flying in international airspace within Alaska’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). Although they did not violate US or Canadian sovereign airspace and were not considered a threat, NORAD dispatched US F-16 and F-35 fighter jets, along with Canadian CF-18 fighters, to intercept them as per standard procedure.
This incident marks the first time Chinese H-6 bombers have been observed in Alaska’s ADIZ, reflecting increased military cooperation between Russia and China, as well as China’s efforts to expand its influence in the Arctic region.
General Gregory Guillot, Commander of US Northern Command, had predicted in March that China might deploy aircraft to this area within the year, raising significant concerns among US security officials.
This event underscores the changing dynamics in the Arctic region and may have implications for global security and geopolitics in the future. China has declared itself a “near-Arctic state” and is attempting to expand its role in the region through cooperation with Russia, a development closely monitored by the United States and its allies.
