รัฐบาลสิงคโปร์ได้ดำเนินการทางกฎหมายต่อนักเคลื่อนไหวทางสังคมจำนวนสามราย อันเนื่องมาจากการจัดกิจกรรมเรียกร้องทางการเมืองโดยมิได้รับอนุญาต กิจกรรมดังกล่าวมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อกดดันให้รัฐบาลยุติความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตกับประเทศอิสราเอล

Singapore charges activists over pro – Palestinian letters
The Government of Singapore has initiated legal proceedings against three social activists due to their organization of unauthorized political demonstrations. These activities were aimed at pressuring the government to terminate diplomatic relations with the State of Israel.
The incident stems from a gathering of approximately 70 individuals who proceeded from a major commercial district to government premises, employing symbols associated with Palestine, such as watermelon-patterned umbrellas, which bear colors reminiscent of the Palestinian flag. The demonstrators submitted a petition to government officials.
Singaporean authorities have indicated that these actions constitute unauthorized activities, contravening public assembly laws, particularly concerning matters of foreign policy. The maximum penalty for this offense is a fine not exceeding 10,000 Singapore dollars or imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months.
Local civil society organizations have expressed concern that this prosecution may be perceived as an intimidating signal to those sympathetic to the Palestinian cause in Singapore. Concurrently, law enforcement officials have issued a statement cautioning the public against participating in activities that might compromise national security and social cohesion.
Although Singapore maintains cordial relations with Israel across various domains, the Singaporean government continues to support a two-state solution to the conflict and has voted in favor of United Nations resolutions calling for the cessation of hostilities in the region. This situation underscores the challenges faced by the Singaporean government in maintaining a balance between enforcing domestic legislation and conducting foreign policy on matters of international political sensitivity.
