เหตุการณ์นี้เกิดขึ้นเพียงหนึ่งสัปดาห์ก่อนพิธีเปิดการแข่งขันกีฬาโอลิมปิก 2024 ที่กรุงปารีส และเป็นเหตุรุนแรงครั้งที่สองที่เกิดขึ้นกับเจ้าหน้าที่รักษาความปลอดภัยฝรั่งเศสในสัปดาห์นี้ โดยก่อนหน้านี้เมื่อวันจันทร์ ทหารนายหนึ่งถูกแทงที่สถานีรถไฟในกรุงปารีส

Police Officer Attacked in Paris as Security Measures Intensify for 2024 Olympic Games
On Thursday, July 18, 2024, a police officer was assaulted and injured in central Paris, France. The incident occurred in the 8th arrondissement, a renowned tourist area and home to the famous Champs-Élysées avenue.
French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin reported that the police officer was attacked while responding to assist security personnel at a local store. The suspect sustained injuries during the confrontation with other police officers and has been hospitalized.
