เชียงใหม่คว้ารางวัลอันดับ 1 เมืองที่ดีที่สุดในเอเชียประจำปี 2025 จากผลสำรวจ “World’s Best Awards” ของ Travel + Leisure แพลตฟอร์มด้านการท่องเที่ยวและไลฟ์สไตล์ชั้นนำ ประกาศเมื่อวันที่ 16 กรกฎาคม 2568 โดยเชียงใหม่ได้รับคะแนนสูงถึง 91.94 คะแนน แซงหน้ากรุงโตเกียวของญี่ปุ่นที่ตามมาเป็นอันดับ 2 ด้วยคะแนน 91.39 คะแนน และกรุงเทพมหานครที่อยู่อันดับ 3 ด้วยคะแนน 91.34 คะแนน
การจัดอันดับนี้มาจากการโหวตของผู้อ่านกว่า 180,000 คน ครอบคลุมกว่า 8,700 แห่งทั่วโลก พิจารณาจากหลายปัจจัย เช่น สถานที่ท่องเที่ยว วัฒนธรรม อาหาร ความเป็นมิตร การช้อปปิ้ง และความคุ้มค่า โดยเชียงใหม่โดดเด่นในทุกด้าน ผู้อ่านต่างชื่นชมว่าเป็นเมืองที่ “ผู้คนสุภาพสุดๆ และอาหารที่น่าทึ่ง!” เมืองนี้มีแหล่งท่องเที่ยวทางวัฒนธรรมที่สำคัญ เช่น วัดพระธาตุดอยสุเทพ ซึ่งเป็นวัดโบราณที่ตั้งอยู่บนภูเขาที่มองเห็นทิวทัศน์เมือง นอกจากนี้ เชียงใหม่ยังโดดเด่นเรื่องอาหารริมทางที่มีชีวิตชีวา โดยเฉพาะที่ตลาดกลางคืนที่นักท่องเที่ยวสามารถลิ้มลองเมนูขึ้นชื่ออย่าง ข้าวเหนียวมะม่วงและข้าวซอย ไม่เพียงเท่านั้น ธรรมชาติอันอุดมสมบูรณ์รอบเชียงใหม่ยังเปิดโอกาสให้ผู้มาเยือนได้สัมผัสประสบการณ์การพบปะช้างอย่างมีจริยธรรม และการเดินป่าในอุทยานแห่งชาติที่สวยงาม และหลายคนยังเน้นย้ำว่าเชียงใหม่เป็น “สถานที่ที่ยอดเยี่ยมในการชมช้าง และให้อาหารและอาบน้ำช้าง”
สำหรับรายชื่อเมืองอื่นๆ ที่น่าสนใจในปีนี้ ญี่ปุ่นติดโผถึงสามเมือง โดยโตเกียวเป็นอันดับ 2 และเกียวโตอยู่อันดับ 6 ซึ่งผู้อ่านยกย่องว่าเป็นเมืองที่ “เป็นมิตร สะอาด สนุกสนาน” และมี “อาหารและสถานที่สำคัญทางวัฒนธรรมยอดเยี่ยม” นอกจากนี้ยังมีเมืองจากประเทศต่างๆ ทั่วเอเชียที่ติดอันดับ อาทิ ชัยปุระและอัคราจากอินเดีย, ฮอยอันและฮานอยจากเวียดนาม, อูบุดจากอินโดนีเซีย, เสียมราฐจากกัมพูชา, ไทเปจากไต้หวัน, สิงคโปร์ และโซลจากเกาหลีใต้
ทั้งนี้ด้านรัฐบาล นางสาวศศิกานต์ วัฒนะจันทร์ รองโฆษกรัฐบาล ได้ขอบคุณทุกภาคส่วนที่ร่วมพัฒนาและต้อนรับนักท่องเที่ยวอย่างอบอุ่น พร้อมย้ำว่าการจัดอันดับครั้งนี้สะท้อนศักยภาพการท่องเที่ยวไทย และความพร้อมก้าวสู่ศูนย์กลางการท่องเที่ยวภูมิภาค
Chiang Mai has been named the No. 1 best city in Asia for 2025, according to the “World’s Best Awards” survey by Travel + Leisure, a leading travel and lifestyle platform, announced on July 16, 2025. Chiang Mai earned an impressive score of 91.94, surpassing Tokyo, Japan (91.39), and Bangkok, Thailand (91.34).
The rankings were based on votes from over 180,000 readers, covering more than 8,700 destinations worldwide. Evaluation criteria included attractions, culture, cuisine, friendliness, shopping, and value. Chiang Mai excelled in every aspect, with readers praising it as a city with “extremely polite people and amazing food!”
Highlights include cultural landmarks like Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, an ancient temple perched on a mountain overlooking the city. Chiang Mai is also known for its vibrant street food scene, especially its night markets where visitors can savor local specialties such as mango sticky rice and khao soi. The city’s lush natural surroundings offer opportunities for ethical elephant encounters and trekking in beautiful national parks. Many voters described Chiang Mai as “a wonderful place to see elephants, feed them, and bathe them.”
Other notable cities on this year’s list include three cities from Japan: Tokyo (No. 2) and Kyoto (No. 6), which were praised for being “friendly, clean, fun,” and offering “excellent food and cultural landmarks.” Cities from across Asia also made the list, including Jaipur and Agra in India; Hoi An and Hanoi in Vietnam; Ubud in Indonesia; Siem Reap in Cambodia; Taipei in Taiwan; Singapore; and Seoul in South Korea.
